The Bad Boy Running Podcast

Running is great, so why aren't the podcasts? Bad Boy Running is a podcast for runners (boys AND girls!) who are bored of the dull and dry podcasts currently on offer. Hosted by friends Jody Raynsford and David Hellard, both running journalists, bloggers and lovable idiots, the show features the conversations they'd have in the pub focusing as much on the camaraderie and social side of the sport as the technical.

The guys interview ultramarathon man and endurance athlete Dean Karnazes, who talks about his latest book Road To Sparta, the magic of running marathons and ultras and how he trains and prepares for his grueling race schedule.

Listen to this episode and you'll discover:

  • The lure of the Spartathlon and why it's just so tough
  • The No.1 nutrition mistake Dean made before and DURING the Spartathlon
  • Why EVERY single marathon run in the last 100 years should be ruled invalid (yes, that means your PB)
  • The challenges facing Dean as he attempts to run in every country in the world
  • How his book inspired a world crawling record
  • The change-up in his routine that's made him stronger
  • Dean reveals his ball park total career mileage (it's ridiculous)
  • David coaxes out the story of how Dean got expelled from school when he was younger because of... alcohol!
  • And Jody and David attempt to push Dean into running The Monarch's Way Ultra

Jody and David also ask Dean to tweet to his follower they need to respond to a certain G-Law in the right way (i.e. punch him in the face).
